Winter Tires & Wheels

Why are four winter tires necessary?

Twenty years ago, snow tires were different than summer tires only in their tread design. Many people assumed that two drive wheels were most important, and the other two tires didn't affect handling or control.

Today, winter tires have different compounds than summer tires, and deliver 25 - 50% more traction on snow and ice. Using only two winter tires will have serious handling consequences. Four winter tires will give you the greatest traction and control possible, helping protect you and your family on slippery roads.

Why install winter tire and steel wheels?

Tires

Tire stress:

Every time the tires are removed from the rims it creates stress on the mounting surface, causing stretching and air leakage.

Cost:

Every time a set of tires is mounted & dismounted, the cost can range from $90 - $120 but installing a winter tire/wheel package will only cost $40.

If wheel damage occurs, an original mag or alloy wheel from the manufacturer can cost as much as $900 each, but steel wheels are approximately $125 each.

Leak proof:

Steel wheels are far better at maintaining their shape in the colder weather. Freezing temperatures can cause a mag or alloy wheel to actually shrink causing air to leak around the tire bead.

Sandy Lane installs nitrogen in all their new winter tires to ensure tire pressures stay consistent all winter long.

Ask Sandy Lane about our winter tire package - it includes 4 steel wheels, 4 winter ice tires and 4 wheel covers.
